MID-FLORIDA CHALLENGE CUP BY NIKKI HOFFMAN

The women of Harbor Hills competed in the Mid-Florida Challenge Cup, a match-play competition at eight clubs in Lake and Marion counties. The season began in September and concluded in April. Clubs faced each other twice, both at home and away, for a total of fourteen matches. Eight players from each club were paired into foursomes to play eighteen holes.

In a nail-biting final match, forty points were needed to clinch the Net Winner award for the 2025 season. The Harbor Hills team rallied and scored forty-eight net points! Harbor Hills Country Club won the net championship, while Eagle Ridge Golf Club was the gross winner. This was Harbor Hills’ second net win in the Challenge Cup, the first achieved in 2022. The participating clubs included Harbor Hills Country Club, Eagle Ridge Golf Club, Arlington Ridge Golf Club, Plantation at Leesburg Golf Club, Deer Island Country Club, Monarch Golf Club at Royal Highlands, Mission Resort and Club, and The Country Club of Dora.

Terry Delcamp and Terri Winefordner served as co-captains for Harbor Hills. Terri noted that all the players stepped up when needed. Appointments and travel plans were adjusted to accommodate the schedule, which helped the team achieve victory. Congratulations to our players!

Four flights were fielded for the Men’s Golf Association’s annual Member-Member Stroke Play Tournament. Flight One winners were Dave DeCoster and Mike Reyome. Flight Three winners were Ravi Velappan and Mike Cofer. Flight Four winners were Mike Collier and Bob Kasse. Flight Two winners and overall champions were Chris Delzio and Ted Sartin.
