HARBOR HILLS’ PREMIER GOLF EVENT – THE SIDER CUP BY NIKKI HOFFMAN
Harbor Hills’ premier golf event, the Sider Cup, was a huge success. For the 31st year, the eight-day event generated excitement throughout the community. The tournament featured a variety of activities and three days of competitive golf, culminating in thirty head-to-head singles matches.
The men’s matches went down to the final putt in the final match, ending a dramatic 30-point to 30-point tie. It was only the third draw in Sider Cup history! By rule, the tiebreaker went to last year’s champions, Team Red, retaining ownership of the cup until next year.
Becky Hanner was the Chair for the Ladies Red/Blue Tournament for the ninth year, with Karen Coburn serving as Co-Chair. The Blue Team retained their winning title with a score of 305, while the Red Team scored 316. Karen Coburn, President of the Harbor Hills Ladies Golf Association, and Denise Collier prepared the pairings. Denise Collier and Karen Mannix used beautiful centerpieces for the luncheon held after the tournament.
Organizing and overseeing this special tournament requires significant skill and dedication. Our sincere appreciation to Tournament Chairman Dave DeCoster and everyone who worked hard to make this another unforgettable year.
Congratulations to the winner of the 2025 Leimberger Cup (formerly the Lake County Cup), Reagan Smith. Forty-six players from high schools across Lake County participated. Reagan, who attends First Academy-Leesburg, secured the win in an exciting playoff with friend and neighbor Trevor Orobitg, also from First Academy. Congrats to Mount Dora Christian as well for the team win.
