Sophisticated Gents

If you stroll into the Golden Corral on the first Wednesday of any month, you’ll find yourself in the company of a distinguished group of men – The Sophisticated Gents of Florida.  They meet each month, boasting a membership of approximately 150 men. Many are retired professionals from diverse backgrounds who have chosen Florida as their home.

Founded in 2005, the Sophisticated Gents is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization celebrating twenty years of service to the tri-county area. “Our mission goes beyond camaraderie,” says President Glen Lomax. “We have a keen interest in matters that affect communities of color, and we welcome friendship and brotherhood from any ethnic group that shares our values.” The Gents volunteer their time for Adopt-A-Highway, student mentoring, and supporting civic organizations.

Uplifting high school students from underserved communities is a significant focus. Together with the African American Club of The Villages, the Gents have awarded over $300,000 in scholarships in the past decade, transforming lives and building brighter futures.

The Friendship Golf Tournament is the premier fundraising event. On Saturday, October 25th, Harbor Hills is proud to host it once again. Proceeds support scholarships for deserving high school seniors.

The $100 donation per golfer includes a cart, green fees, lunch, and prizes. Lunch-only tickets are $35. The registration deadline is October 11.
